Responsible owners know they have to take care of their cars. They also realize being alert during the winter is another car care priority. The winter creates both performance and maintenance hassles. Thankfully, some steps for winter season car care are easy ones.

Batteries don’t work at peak performance during the winter, so you need to have them volt tested. Who wants to deal with a dead battery? And you definitely don’t want the engine block to crack, which can happen if there’s too little coolant. Aged coolant isn’t helpful, either. Flush and replace it with new fluid.

Be sure to keep the fuel tank filled. If the tank has space, water may get inside and freeze. Fill it up at the gas station regularly. Do the same with the windshield wiper fluid.
